Access to Services and Facilities

The car park at the rear of the building has four dedicated parking spaces for people with disabilities, which are located close to the building. There are toilets for the disabled on the ground and first floor, with lift access to the latter.

If you have any other special needs relating to access, audio or visual impairments, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate these.

The IT suite and Willows skills room have desks which can be adjusted to accommodate wheelchair users.

We are committed to making our website as accessible as possible to blind and partially sighted users, and to people with disabilities.

We try to conform to the relevant W3C WAI standards. The W3C Web Accessibility Initiative is the internationally accepted authority on web accessibility standards.

Access Keys

You can use keyboard shortcuts (access keys) to navigate certain areas of this site. We use the UK government access key system:

Alt + S = Skip Navigation
Alt + 1 = Home Page
Alt + 2 = News
Alt + 9 = Feedback/Contact Form
Alt + 0 = Access Key Details - This Page

Depending on the type of browser you are using do one of the following:

if you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4 then press "Alt" and the relevant number/letter at the same time.
if you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5 or 6 then press "Alt" and the relevant number/letter, then press the "Enter" key.
if you are using Netscape version 6 or later, or Mozilla, then press "Alt" and the relevant number/letter at the same time.
With Macintosh-based systems, press the "Ctrl" key and the relevant access key.

Skip Navigation

A 'Skip Navigation' link on each page of our website enables visually impaired users to skip over the main page navigation buttons, rather than having to tab through them manually at the start of every page.

Table Summaries & Title Tags

To further aid those with visual impairments we have minimised the use of tables within this Website, but when they have been necessary we have used table summaries. All hyperlinks throughout the site incorporate 'title' tags.

Multi-media

We avoid uneccessary use of Java, JavaScript, Dynamic HTML, Shockwave, Flash, Powerpoint or any other technologies that can create accessibility problems.
