Wooden Tops is a registered charity run by a voluntary board of directors which consists of mainly our parents and other professionals.

We are currently registered with Ofsted for 87 children and received a GOOD report in November 09.  We cater for children from 3 months to 5 years; we value all children and aim to provide a safe, welcoming and a happy enjoyable atmosphere whilst providing the opportunity for all the children to discover the excitement of learning whilst having fun.

We are open 51 weeks a year, and closed for 1 week at Christmas and all bank holidays.  We are open from 7.30am until 5.45pm.

Although we are primarily a full day care nursery, we do offer government funded children 15 hours which can be incorporated in full day care or as sessional care, we also offer sessions for non funded children.

For the children who stay for lunch they are offered a hot meal which is brought in by outside caterers or they can have a cold option which we prepare in our kitchen which Telford and Wrekin Council Environmental Health recently gave us a 5 star “Score on the Door”.  We also provide healthy snacks in the morning and afternoon for the children.

The nursery also has an outdoor play area with a selection of large play equipment in addition to a range of ride-on or push along toys.  Water play and sand pits are also available throughout the day.  Children are encouraged to play outside several times during the day, even when the weather is poor we play outside under the veranda.

After successfully bidding for funding from Telford and Wrekin Council we are currently developing a growing area which will contain vegetable and flower beds.  The area will be used to help the children experience growing vegetables and to discover the taste of a range of different produce.

Woodside Family Groups Project offers drop-in groups each week day during term time for pre-school children and their parents/carers, facilitated by well qualified and experienced play workers.

We plan play and learning activities for the children and encourage parents to become fully involved.

We offer holistic support to families and aim to involve them fully in the activities of the project.
